About Facelift Surgery

The gold standard of facial rejuvenation is still the surgical facelift. While Botox®, RF skin tightening, facial fillers and other anti-aging treatments can minimize the signs of aging, no procedure can replace the benefits of a facelift when it is performed correctly. Dr. Obaid Chaudhry (aka Dr. O.C.) at Be That Beautiful™ Plastic Surgery is a highly experienced plastic surgeon that performs facelift surgery with natural, outstanding results at our Beverly Hills , California facility.

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is designed to remove excess skin, elevate tissue and restore a more youthful lower face. Some of the most noticeable signs of aging occur around the mouth, jawline and upper neck. As the skin and tissue lose firmness with age, the lower cheeks and jowls drop. The jawline is less defined, and some individuals develop a double chin or turkey waddle with extra skin and fat on the upper neck. Facelift surgery can reverse these concerns, removing excess skin and tightening the lower face, jaw and upper neck.

Natural-Appearing Rhytidectomy

Dr. O.C. is fellowship-trained and highly respected by his peers and patients. When performing a rhytidectomy, his goal is to retain each patient’s unique appearance while rejuvenating their lower face. His facelift techniques are subtle, but effective, in restoring a more youthful appearance without appearing artificial. The sagging jowls are tightened and lifted to reveal a jaw, chin and neck that looks 10 or more years younger.

The incisions for full facelifts are hidden in the hairline around the ear. The length of facelift incisions depend on the type of rhytidectomy performed. A full facelift for excessive sagging or extra skin requires longer incisions that typically go around the ear, while a mini facelift may have a much shorter incision. Dr. Chaudhry can perform facelifts tailored to the patient and their individual aesthetic goals, discreetly hiding the incision and scar for a natural appearance.

Facelifts for Men and Women

Everyone deserves to look their best at every age. Both men and women come to Dr. O.C. to explore their options when it comes to retaining a more youthful appearance. Facelifts can achieve beautiful results for all genders, but they are performed using different techniques. Women tend to have thinner skin and a fuller hairline, while men have thicker skin, facial hair and varying hairlines. Dr. O.C. has created exceptional results for both men and women seeking facelift surgery, even for men with challenging features.

Are You a Good Candidate for Facelift Surgery?

Once upon a time, most facelift patients were in their 50s or beyond. Today, we perform facelifts on many younger patients due to various reasons such as weight loss, elasticity issues, or simply who desire to retain a more youthful appearance versus waiting for sagging to appear. Many men and women have their first facelift in their forties or even late thirties, usually a “mini” facelift to slightly lift the jowls and tighten the neck, jawline and lower face. If you have any sagging in the lower face or upper neck, you may be a good candidate for a rhytidectomy.

Facelift surgery can rejuvenate the lower face and neck, but it does not change the eyes or brow. Many of our patients opt to combine a brow lift or eyelid lift with their facelift to rejuvenate the face from the hairline down to below the chin.

You deserve to look as young as you feel. If you are noticing signs of sagging skin, wrinkles or diminished definition around your chin or jawline, contact us at Be That Beautiful™ Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA, facility to schedule a facelift consultation with Dr. Chaudhry today.

Face Lift FAQ

A good facelift candidate generally has concerns about facial sagging, jowls, or deep creases around the nose and mouth, and still maintains some degree of skin elasticity. Ideal candidates are in overall good health and have realistic expectations of what surgery can achieve. A thorough consultation with your surgeon—including a review of your medical history, aesthetic goals, and physical examination—will help determine if a facelift is right for you.

Facelift incisions are typically placed in inconspicuous locations, such as along the hairline and around the ear, to minimize visible scarring. While everyone heals differently, most patients find that scars fade significantly over time and can often be easily concealed by the hairline or natural contours of the face.

Yes. Swelling and some bruising are common parts of the healing process for a facelift. Most of the initial swelling subsides within the first couple of weeks, and you’ll continue to see gradual improvements over the next several months. Your surgeon will provide post-operative guidelines—such as cold compresses, proper sleeping positions, and recommended medications—to help manage swelling effectively.

Typically, you’ll have your first follow-up appointment within a few days to a week after surgery to remove or check any dressings and stitches. Additional check-ups are usually scheduled at intervals over the next few months to monitor healing and ensure you’re on track for optimal results. The exact number of visits can vary, but most patients have between two to four post-op appointments as part of their recovery process.

My lower face sagged so much that I didn’t recognize myself. Dr. Chaudhry’s facelift gave me back a defined jawline and smooth cheeks. The incisions are hidden so well, even my hairdresser couldn’t spot them. I feel like I’ve reversed a decade in the mirror. It’s still me, just refreshed.

I wasn’t ready for a full facelift but wanted something subtle for my jawline. The mini facelift was exactly what I needed. The recovery was quick, and my friends keep saying I look rested, not ‘done.’ My jowls are gone, and I feel confident again. It’s the perfect balance.

Facelift (Mini Lift)

My biggest concern was the loose skin under my chin and along my jaw. Dr. Chaudhry combined a facelift with neck tightening, and the result is stunning. I can wear my hair up again without worrying about lines or sagging. The whole process felt supportive, from consult to recovery.

As a man, I worried about scars and looking unnatural. Dr. Chaudhry designed my facelift around my hairline and beard growth, and it looks seamless. My jawline is sharp again, and I look years younger. It boosted both my confidence and my professional presence.

I wanted a comprehensive refresh, so I paired my facelift with a brow lift. The transformation is amazing — my face looks smooth, my brows are lifted, and my expression looks vibrant again. Healing took patience, but the results are worth every step. I feel like myself in my 30s again.

Quick answers to questions you may have

There is no strict age limit for a facelift; rather, candidacy depends on factors like skin elasticity, bone structure, and overall health. Some patients choose a facelift in their 40s or 50s, while others opt for it later in life if they’re healthy and have realistic expectations. Your surgeon will assess your individual situation during the consultation.

Typical facelift incisions start in the hairline near the temples, circle around the ear, and end in the lower scalp. These strategic placements help conceal scars in natural creases and hair-bearing areas. In some cases, a small incision is also made under the chin if neck work is involved.

A facelift is not a weight-loss procedure; it’s designed to tighten and reposition facial tissues, remove excess skin, and address sagging. While you may notice a more contoured facial appearance, the number on the scale generally won’t change significantly. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle helps prolong and enhance your results.

Most patients need about one to two weeks of recovery before returning to daily activities and work, though this can vary. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least three to four weeks. Your surgeon will provide a personalized timeline based on your healing progress and overall health.
